Russia Committing War Crimes, But the Israelis Are Innocent?
Less than a month after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Secretary of State Anthony Blink en issued an official determination that Moscow was guilty of war crimes. Issued on March 23, 2022, the report accused Russia of deliberately attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure, indiscriminate attacks, and extrajudicial killings. According to the United Nation’s (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights, 977 Ukrainian civilians had been killed at that point. Eleven days earlier, Ukrainian President Zelensky had announced that 1,300 Ukrainian servicemen had been killed. According to those figures, it would appear that Russia was killing two Ukrain ian fighters for every civilian—according to Western-dominated institutions, which presumably exaggerated the civilian death toll. Let’s compare the State Department’s almost instant “finding” that Russia was guilty of targeting civilians with its position on Israel’s carnage in Gaza.

Many, perhaps most, of the Gaza genocide victims are still rotting beneath the huge piles of rubble that constitute most of what is left of the world’s biggest open-air concentration camp.
The BBC, despite its pro-Israel bias, has confirmed research showing that, unlike in previous Gaza wars, the current genocide is primarily directed against women and children, who constitute two-thirds of the deaths. By contrast, during Israel’s 2008-2009 and 2014 mass slaughter campaigns in Gaza, euphemistically referred to by Israeli leaders as “lawn mowings,” more men than women and children were killed. Even so, experts estimate that more than 90% of victims in those smaller genocide campaigns were civilians. The BBC notes that today’s vastly higher ratio of women and children victims shows that Israel’s killing is completely indiscriminate. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is making no special effort to target fighters, though the mainstream U.S. government line is that he is waging the most humane war in modern history. The truth is, he is simply murdering the population of Gaza, and destroying the infrastructure the population needs to survive. Meanwhile, Hamas fighters operate in tunnels impervious to bombing. There is no evidence that Hamas has suffered any serious military setbacks.
They are killing more Israeli troops now than they were in October. Meanwhile, the U.S. taxpayer is pay ing for the Gaza genocide, and the State Department is helping the perpetrators cover up their crimes. The State Department’s report waffles inconclusively, claiming “it is reasonable” to believe that Israel’s use of American weapons has been “inconsistent” with international law, while simultaneously asserting that Israel’s denials were “credible and reliable.” While admitting that independent human rights groups and the UN have found otherwise, the State Department says it is “difficult to determine facts on the ground in an active war zone.”
Conclusion: U.S. weapons will continue to flow to Israel, and netanyahu will continue to use them to mass-murder the women and children of Gaza. Why is the Biden administration handing Israel the weapons it is using to perpetrate the most transparent genocide in human history?
